The All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society (AISSMS) was established in 1917 as a broad-based educational and social welfare organization by His Highness Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, His Highness Shri. Madhavrao Scindia Maharaj of Gwalior, and His Highness Sir Tukojirao Maharaj of Indore with the benevolent mission of the welfare of society. The sole purpose of the Society is to promote the noble cause of education. With a glorious legacy of over 100 years, AISSMS is admired for its visionary leadership and social reforms through education. Today, there are 21 institutes in the AISSMS family imparting education from KG to PG and Ph.D. across diverse fields like engineering, polytechnic, industrial training, business management, pharmacy, and hotel management. All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society's Institute of Management (IOM) was established in 2002. It offers two years full-time MBA Programme.
IOM is permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education, (AICTE) New Delhi and is approved by DTE, Government of Maharashtra. It is also an approved Ph.D. Research Centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University. The Institute is among the Top Management Institutes in India to receive and retain the prestigious 'A+' Grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India in consecutive two cycles with higher CGPA.
